Bio
Dr. Sherry Kao is originally a native of Southwest Florida. She graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Nutritional Sciences. She then went on to the New England College of Optometry (NECO) in Boston, where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree. During her time at NECO, she trained extensively at externship rotations at the Boston VA hospital and various community health centers around the greater Boston area.
Driven by a passion for medical optometry, she honed her skills working in an ophthalmology setting in Brooklyn, NY, during her first year out of NECO. She handled a variety of cases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, keratoconus, retinal detachments and optic neuritis. Now she is excited to be back in Florida and serve the Gulf Coast!
Dr. Kao offers full scope eye care, including comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, medical visits, and dry eye management. She sees patients of all ages and is a big advocate for myopia management for kids and fits MiSight, ortho-k, and the newest FDA-approved Stellest lens. She enjoys getting to know her patients and is passionate about educating people about the eyes.
In her free time, Dr. Kao loves to read, play tennis, snowboard, and travel.
